At Least the Weather Is Nice…

Savannah has given us absolutely gorgeous weather today!

IMG_1656 We fueled ourselves with McCann’s Irish Steel Cut oats after 8 hours of sleep.  I don’t think we budged one time during the night.

My oats decided that a pansy photo shoot was appropriate considering the 60 degree weather.

IMG_1640 IMG_1639 IMG_1638 IMG_1637 Smile for the camera! This is a little change from the halogen lights of my office, eh?

The rest of our day consisted of funeral related errands. Who knew there were so many different things to consider?

I feel like we’re planning a wedding all over again.

IMG_1646 IMG_1644 IMG_1643 IMG_1642We reminisced as we drove through Savannah, taking in old familiar sites.  This abandoned building was at one time Charlie Epp’s Car Wash. I spent many a day sipping grape soda through a straw and talking with all his employees while they washed my dad’s work trucks. IMG_1647

The moss is hanging low from the Live Oak trees and the pollen is just beginning to fill the air.

There is nothing like going over the bridge, looking towards the marsh and enjoying the fresh air through the windows! This site is what I cherish more than anything from Savannah- fresh salt air, blue sky, and sunshine.

Question: What do you miss most from your hometown?

Greetings from the Doctor’s Office

After my run this afternoon, I realized I had 20 minutes to get ready for my trip. Oops! I was crazy rushed but luckily ended up putting together a half way decent travel outfit. I had no idea what our plans would be upon our arrival in Savannah so I needed something comfortable by presentable in case we were going to the church or dinner.

IMG_0372 This outfit includes:

  • JCrew trouser khakis (I’m obsessed with these!)
  • JCrew long sleeve favorite tshirt
  • gold Tory Burch Reva flats
  • long pearl neckalce from JCrew outlet this weekend
  • white Marc Jacobs watch

One quick cab ride later, Bo and I showed up to this craziness at LaGuardia!

IMG_0359 IMG_0360 HOLY LINES! The families were out in full force today on their way to long weekend vacations in honor of the President’s Day weekend. Everyone was saying that they had never seen a

Luckily, we made it through the lines five minutes before our flight’s gate closed. I grabbed a quick salad to enjoy on the plan and then ran towards our gate.

IMG_0610We enjoyed lovely views leaving the city. The sky was crystal clear.

IMG_0363 IMG_0364 We each had aspirations of taking our mind off everything through a good book, but I spent most of my time sleeping instead. I only woke up once when this little guy barked.

IMG_0370Two hours later, I snapped this awesome pictures as we were landing. The sun was coming through the clouds as we broke cloud level.

IMG_0367My parents and papa picked us up at the airport. There were lots of hugs and small talk but overall people tried to keep their minds off the reason we were home. In fact, my dad decided that dropping Bo and I off at the orthopedic after hours was a good way to take our mind off of things. He needs a local doctor to see him tonight so he can hopefully get an MRI tomorrow or Friay.

IMG_0371 Lucky for me they have free internet! 🙂

I’ve lined up some great guest posts for the next few days as I’m not sure what my schedule is going to be like. I hope you enjoy them!

Thank you for all of your warm wishes, prayers, and support!

A Beautiful Day of Skiing at Stratton Mountain

IMG_0236

We were blessed with a gorgeous day on the mountain yesterday! Everyone, ranging from those who spent their day on the top of the mountain enjoying moguls to me, who enjoyed a half day lesson and then a few afternoon runs on my own.

We were all out of the house by 9am, ready to take advantage of our time on the slopes! IMG_1494IMG_1493IMG_1492IMG_1495

Within minutes we had our rental gear in tow and were ready!

Meet Debbie, my instructor for the morning!

IMG_0226I know my ability and knew that a half day lesson would be better than trying to explore the slopes on my own and fall constantly. I’ve only skied four times in my life and therefore still do not have the form and skills necessary to enjoy a day of skiing.

Debbie was the perfect instructor! She was patient, she had some great insight on my form and skills, and she made me laugh the entire time! One of her goals is to make sure that each student has an "instructional mantra" to remember while they are out on the slopes on their own.

IMG_0227IMG_0233IMG_0232IMG_0230

Even though I was limited to the lower slopes such as Tamarack, Daniel Webster, and Webster’s Way, I had a great time and perfected my form.

My mantra, by the end of the day, was "Butt, Core, Smile"

If I make sure to keep my butt lifted, core engaged, and smiling the run is 100% better! I mean really, as she said, it’s not like there is a toilet to sit down on when you’re skiing. :) The improved which she taught me yesterday meant that I’m barely sore today. A HUGE DIFFERENCE FROM LAST YEAR!

We took a quick lunch break to toast to a wonderful day on the slopes. Nothing tastes better than a cold beer mid-day!

I spent the rest of the afternoon tending to my favorite skier. Unfortunately, he tweaked his knee on the moguls on his last run of the morning.

But, I still had time for an hour and a half on my own. It was so much fun, especially since I didn’t fall at all which meant I was nice and dry all day!

IMG_0239IMG_1524IMG_1523  Next up, making dinner for 17 people and pleasing everyone! ;)
