London: Primrose Hill

Just a few steps north of our normal running route in Regent’s Park lies a quaint neighborhood, Primrose Hill.  Reminiscent of the West Village or a small, British countryside town, the neighborhood of Primrose Hill includes just 3 postcode districts.

The high street is only a few blocks, far shorter than the Marylebone High Street a few steps from our flat. Due to the narrow streets, Primrose Hill felt far more quaint. In addition, we noticed that the high street, while filled with busting businesses, it didn’t seem to have any chain shops or restaurants which was quite refreshing.  We meandered along, sneaking peaks into the bakeries, flower shops, bookstores, small shops, and even a hot yoga studio for a half hour this morning after our run.

We couldn’t leave the area without walking up the namesake, Primrose Hill. A 250 foot hill overlooking Central London, this high point was used this morning by many a runner completing hill repeats and tourists taking in the breathtaking view.

022Primrose Hill definitely deserves another visit, maybe for a relaxed Saturday morning brunch or dinner when my parents are in London this month.

If you’re in London for more than a day or two, a visit to this neighborhood is more than worth the trip. Grab a coffee and enjoy a stroll through the local shops before exploring Regent’s Park or the London Zoo.

Savannah Sunshine

Good morning from Savannah!

Bo and I arrived in Savannah Friday around 7pm after a smooth but long day of travel. Within an hour we were sitting over the water at AJ’s Dockside enjoying fresh seafood and cold beer with both families.

045After a good night’s rest and an hour morning workout with my brother, Saturday was a day dedicated to rest and relaxation with my mom. Each year my mom and I enjoy some type of spa treatment together to decompress before the holiday celebrations begin. This year we decided on a full day package at Savannah Day Spa. The package included a facial, scrub, massage, manicure, pedicure and lunch. While the treatments were wonderful, especially the facial, I had a hard time relaxing for that long. I found my mind wandering during the treatments, thinking about all the errands that need to be done for the holidays.
009010029 028 027 023 020After spending almost all day inside on Saturday yesterday we were able to enjoy the gorgeous Savannah sunshine and 70 degree temperatures. The “kids” went out on my brother’s boat for an afternoon of cruising on the water.

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday and looking forward to some time with friends and family.

Warmth in winter – wrong or not? Do you crave cold weather or warmth over the holidays? White Christmas or white sand?

Back in the USA and Giveaway Winners!

Greetings from Dulles Airport! Our day started quite early this morning since we had to be on our plane at Heathrow Airport by 6:30! Luckily last night was a very relaxing and early evening in London so the 4:30 wake up wasn’t too painful.

I landed at Heathrow at 6:30 and was home by 7:15! The Heathrow Express isn’t cheap but on nights like this it makes a world of difference. Bo and I cooked an easy dinner together before toasting the holiday vacation with some champagne.

Dinner was baked chicken thighs, homemade Greek inspired brussels sprout salad, couscous and a small green salad. It was so nice to enjoy dinner together on a Thursday night! 136So far our travel day has been almost too good to be true. We flew United from London Heathrow to Dulles Airport and though the flight was 1.5 hours longer than normal due to weather in the North Atlantic, Homeland Season 3 kept us occupied the entire flight. Season 3 is definitely my favorite season thus far!247 As we flew over northern Newfoundland we were able to see the glaciers and icebergs even though we were over 30,000 feet high! Check out the formations!252

We have three hours until our flight takes off for Savannah, plenty of time to grab lunch and relax. I’m so relieved our flight from London to Washington, DC didn’t have any issues. It’s one thing to rent a car and drive from DC if there are issues but that isn’t exactly possible from Europe.
