July Workout Playlist

I’ve been fighting allergies and a Summer cold this week which has caused me to reduce my schedule to sleeping, working, watching Gilmore Girls, reading and relaxing in bed. Since I rarely slow down like this, I had to give myself a project last night while watching Gilmore Girls.  Inspired by this month’s training plan as well as the start of half marathon training, I spent an hour last night updating my ever-growing workout playlist. I stopped making individual ones as I love putting this 200+ song playlist on shuffle so I don’t grow tired of the songs.  My playlists always include a mix of music genres from over the years, but this month’s includes some of the newest songs which I discovered through Spotify, Soul Cycle instructors and RunHundred. I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s run just so I can enjoy the new music.  Hopefully you all can enjoy this playlist for Summer workouts, road trips or to add some pep to your step during your commute.

July Workout Playlist

It’s the beginning of a new month which means fresh goals! Just in time for the many runs and workouts to help me achieve my goals is a new playlist. Whether I’m running in Central Park or lifting weights at the gym, music helps motivate me through every minute of a workout. Remember last month, when I ran the Nike London Women’s 10k? I mentioned more than once that Taylor Swift helped me power through the final mile towards a new PR!

My Favorite Workout Music

While I have no musical talent myself, I am someone who appreciates music.  On the commute to work, I listen to country music, almost exclusively. On the way home, I listen to a chill-out playlist from a Kristin McGee yoga class I took almost three years ago. But, when I’m working out, all I want is a good, fast beat and energy. My playlists are beyond random, often mixing music from across the ages and genres.

Since I’ve been spending a fair amount of time training this month, having good music has been imperative. My latest playlist, aptly titled Favorite Workout Jams Spring 2015 on Spotify, is 2 hours and 11 minutes in length – perfect for a long run or multiple shorter workouts.

IMG_8709[1]Nothing benefits a workout more than an epic playlist. We’ve all experienced a class that has left us wanting the instructor’s playlist immediately. Speaking of which, did you know that Soul Cycle shares a TON of their playlists on their Spotify channel. Regardless of whether or not you’ve experienced their high-intensity spin classes or “parties on a bike” everyone agrees that their instructors, like Hallie, are legit DJs when it comes to choosing the right music.

But, I digress. The point of today’s post is to share my new playlist, Favorite Workout Jams Spring 2015. This playlist includes 35 songs that will help push you through your next workout, regardless how much you want to stop. It’s a non-stop high energy playlist with something for everyone.
