A hilarious picture recap of my weekend

My goal is to post each day regardless of how busy or crazy the day may be. So today, I bring you my weekend through pictures. 🙂 It really was one of the best weekends ever! I think we may have even found our new home yesterday but more details on that later. So, until the official reviews come, enjoy a laugh or two. I promise my hair isn’t ALWAYS in a bun or ponytail. 🙂 Enjoy! Don’t forget to enter my Jay Robb giveaway!
Enjoyed “The Good Guy” with Bo. This movie is terrific and I highly recommend. It is also based in NYC which is an added bonus! 🙂
Meghann was right! Oranges and almond butter are a perfect pre-long run combination!

10 miles on the treadmill done with my running buddy Dori at Equinox!

I have to pinch myself everyday to believe I really live in this city and this is MY park. I love Central Park in the winter just as much as the summer..maybe more.
Yes, we bought a sled and acted like lil kids in Central Park for over an hour. Did you know that there is a page dedicated to the best hills for sledding in Central Park?!

Up and Moving and some morning EYE CANDY!

Good morning and Happy Thursday! Only one more day until the weekend! I am already excited for this weekend as I have a long run planned with Dori and Melissa which will also include the NYRR Run for Haiti 4 miler, a housewarming party for my cousin Meredith, and hopefully more Olympics watching! Did you see the half pipe competition last night? Amazing! Bo is especially fond of him due to his flaming red hair!
This morning I had speed work planned and some ab work Fitnessista style. My legs are still sore from Sunday and Monday’s long runs and 3 days of Core Fusion DVD. Therefore, this morning’s speed work was not my best. I did the following:
5 mins warmup 6.0
5 mins 6.2
2 mins 7.2
5 mins 6.2
2 mins 7.2
5 mins 6.2
2 mins 7.4
5 mins 6.2
1 min 7.8
Due to a late dinner last night I didn’t half my normal piece of toast and jam before the gym. I wonder if my body was missing that extra burst of food and nutrients?

Before moving over to breakfast, I wanted to make sure everyone knows about the awesome website Groupon. This site sends out a daily deal for over 50 different cities which is normally a 50%-75% discount. The discounts range which is what I love. My friend Elizabeth has benefitted from the Bikram discount last week, my girlfriend snagged Pole Dancing lessons/workout, and I’m thinking about taking advantage of today’s discount for Pilates on Fifth! Here is the link to todays!
If you want to join Groupon today for FREE click here!

This mornings breakfast was exactly what I was craving- Green Tea (Thanks Tea and Honey Store), 1/2 my Jolly green juice from One Lucky Duck, and pumpkin oats.

I hope that Power Vinyasa tonight with Lauren at Equinox will work some of this soreness out of my body. Also, either today or tomorrow I need to buy a new gym bag. Do you all have recommendations? Right now a Lululemon bag is my first choice but i’m open to ideas. My old school Vera Bradley bag from college is just not cutting it anymore. It’s a little akward when I walk into meetings with it up here in NYC.
And now, I leave you with some morning eye candy! I had the great opportunity to meet and hang out with Ryan Reynolds last week at a work event. He is funnier in person than you could ever imagine. This is definitely the worst picture of me (why was I on the end?!) in a while but regardless it was still a fun time!

The Power of Positive Thinking

“Positive thinking is expecting, talking and visualizing with certainty what you want to achieve, as an accomplished fact.”

If you’re lucky, the great thing about living and working out with your best friend is that they can constantly serve as your exercise buddy and/or motivator. Bo and I took yesterday off from a formal workout since we had a greuling 8 mile run in Central Park on Saturday. Today I assumed i’d do 3 miles on the treadmill and some abs but Bo had a different idea.

B: “Are you ready to go for a run? I thought we’d do the bridge and central park.”
A: “That’s far and hard! I figured i’d do an easy 3 today. I think the gym is open.”
B: “If we’re really going to make a change we have to start now. We need to run outside more so we’re not surprised during our races.”

Good call! So I quickly bundled up and headed out the door with my new playlist already blasting. Our plan was to run from our apartment down to the Queensborough Bridge, over the bridge, down 61st street until we hit the park, then a mile and half along the east side of the park which would also include Cat Hill. To be honest, when we left the apartment I assumed that I wouldn’t finish. Our chosen path was filled with one HUGE hill (Queensborough Bridge) and then the hills in the park. I figured that somewhere along the way i’d get tired and turn back. That’s the great thing about having a workout partner. You can’t stop running if someone is 100 feet in front of you turning their head around every 1/4 mile to make sure you’re still there. This run was tough- no questions asked. But, I quickly started a mantra and focused on my breathing. The only bad part about the run was the fact that I was wearing WAY too much clothing. I didn’t realize how warm it was especially in the sun. But, at the end I sweat it through, sang a bit too loud, and smiled in delight when I realized that my 5 miles were done and that i’d actually kept a faster pace than normal- 9:47ish.

I hope you had a great day today regardless of whether you were able to relax and enjoy the holiday or were working hard all day!
