Let’s Do This Again Next Weekend

Can every weekend be just like this one?  I’ve already told Bo that I’m ready to repeat this weekend again anytime!

A great 12 mile run to kick of marathon training!

Celebrating Laura’s birthday over beers in the middle of the afternoon!

Toasting and celebrating the official arrival of Meg to the city now that she and her roommates have signed their lease. IMG_3391

Sharing our love of omelets  with some of our dear friends over brunch at our home Sunday morning.

Loving every second of Newsies!

From the amazing dance skills which Ali could tell you about all day, the catchy tunes, the use of different media types, the moving set, and the catchy tunes that left Meg and I tapping our toes all evening.

Enjoying a Sunday night dinner that Bo brought back from the sea after a Saturday spent scuba diving off the coast of New York! These were the best mussels ever, not only because Bo brought them back himself but also because they were perfectly briny and the white wine sauce had the perfect balance of cream and vegetables!

And, just because I wanted to end the weekend on a high point, I forgot my swimsuit at home on the bed even though Bo and I had great plans of swimming at Columbus Circle together. Luckily, the silver lining was that this allowed me to watch the sun shine through the trees as I enjoyed four humid miles in Central Park.

Yes, if the weekend has to end then I’m okay ending it with the sun smiling down on me as I take in the gorgeous area that I call home.

How was your weekend?

A Birreria Birthday Celebration

An afternoon nap and mani+pedi were exactly what I needed after the Queens half marathon to get a second wind for Bo’s birthday celebration!  His friend Michael gave him a wonderful card with this hilarious pin, “Another Year Sexier” which Bo wore all night long!IMG_3513 (640x478)

Last night, 13 of our closest friends came together to celebrate Bo’s 27th birthday at Birreria. Birreria is the rooftop restaurant at Eataly. They have been trying to classify it as a beer garden but after three visits, I really don’t think you can call it that. While they have a wonderful and extensive beer selection the atmosphere and food is definitely a step above your typical beer garden.

Two weeks ago I called and made reservations, since they only accept them 2 weeks in advance for groups of 12 or less. Our friend Liz called and made reservation for a smaller table, requesting it to be near the group of 12. This allowed us the flexibility to have up to 18 people join for the celebration.

The best thing about bringing all our friends together is that by now most of them have met and spent time together during either our Marathon Party, Tacky Christmas Party, Ski Weekend, or Derby Party!

IMG_3515 (640x478) IMG_3516 (640x478) IMG_3517 (640x478) IMG_3518 (640x478)Each table started with a round of drinks and appetizers as everyone caught up on life and the Summer adventures. Luckily, they had my favorite Blue point Summer Ale back on the menu last night which I enjoyed along with our table’s order of pretzel bread and cheese platter. You must order their pretzel bread if it’s on the menu; salty and doughy goodness. IMG_3520 (478x640) IMG_3521 (640x478) The rest of the table shared the salumi affettati misti platter which features a selection of all salumi.

IMG_3522 (640x478)I didn’t have the chance to take pictures of other people’s entrees but I ordered the Insalata Cotta Cruda which was once again a perfect summer meal. Filled with wax beans, potatoes, and other mixed vegetables it is light and filling.

Overall everyone was very pleased with their entrees including the pesce con verdure miste, pollo con pesto di olive verdii, bistecca con salsa verde, and sausage.

Birreria was the perfect location for a birthday dinner with a large group! Our waitress was very accommodating throughout the evening. Furthermore, our tables were adjacent to each other so we were able to play musical chairs all night, socializing with each table.

IMG_3525 (640x478) IMG_3526 (640x478) IMG_3527 (640x478)After dinner we headed over to Society Billiards for a few rounds of pool. We were looking for a relaxed atmosphere where we could have some fun, continue the laughs, and hang out. Their website describes it perfectly:

Society Billiards and Bar, in the shadow of the Flatiron, takes care to bring pool’s greatest traditions and welcomes a rich future for the game. Our friendly staff are all players as well and are dedicated to the reintroduction of a pool hall in the heart of this historic district of Manhattan.

IMG_3528 (640x478) IMG_3529 (640x478) IMG_3532 (478x640) It was a wonderful night celebrated with great friends. We missed those who couldn’t make it but were lucky to have both New York an Philadelphia friends up for the night.

A fun Saturday means that today is a relaxing recovery day. I’ve already enjoyed 30 minutes of gentle yoga and foam rolling followed by a homemade brunch.

Brunches, Bootcamps, and Bachelorettes

After a whirlwind start to the weekend including my new 10K PR, I was ready for a relaxing rest of the weekend.

It turns out, my friends had other plans in store!

run611 (454x340)

After the race, our sweaty bunch headed over to the Whym for brunch.

IMG_2546 (640x478)

We were all starving and thirsty so luckily the service was friendly and pretty fast considering we had a large group.

brunch611 (300x225)

I hydrated with an iced coffee and water while our group caught up.

IMG_2547 (478x640)The menu had many delicious options such as whole wheat French toast, omelets, and pretzel rolls. They weren’t very good about making substitutions so instead I went with a tried and true favorite, an egg white frittata.  The salmon, pepper, and onion frittata was more delicious than I expected and the fruit salad was huge!

IMG_2549 (640x478) I would go to the Whym again in a heartbeat post race especially due to it’s close proximity to Central Park.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to hang out with the group very long due to the BeFitNYC launch event I was helping host with Leanne Shear and Rogue Female Fitness!

IMG_2552 (640x478)

Unfortunately, the event’s location had to change last minute due to weather. Those in attendance still had a great time and I was sweating like crazy by the end of the workout. The 30/30 boot camp style workout was no joke! I’ll definitely do a separate post about the event later this week once I get some of the footage the taped.

Our first stop was Barrow Street Ale House to catch up with Theodora, Tina, and Becca over a few drinks.

IMG_2558 (640x478)  Time flew as we laughed about our families and race goals.

drinks611 (475x357) Our next stop was City Winery, to toast one of our favorite couples, Mike and Liz!

We’ve known Mike and Liz for four years, since Bo met them in graduate school. We’re so honored to be part of their big day and have loved watching their relationship evolve over the past few years.IMG_2562 (640x478)

Their engagement party was amazing! It included make your own ice cream sandwiches, champagne, and a wonderful homemade playlist.

IMG_2559 (478x640) Liz looked amazing and reminded me of a blonde Kate Middleton! Check out her gorgeous dress and curls! I’ve decided that I want my hair long again just so I can experiment with curling it!

260332_749563032572_6100416_38851806_1003970_n (640x480) After a few toasts, I had to part ways with Bo, and head to my final party of the night, a New York City bachelorette for Lauren! This was hands down one of the best bachelorette parties ever! I definitely questioned the limo idea but going bar to bar, from Brooklyn to Manhattan, in a white stretch limo was a blast, especially with these ladies!

247987_534163385423_29200882_30870156_3470065_n (640x480) During the course of the evening we visited Mono+Mono, The Woods, No Malice Palace, Prohibition, and The Delancey.

Needless to say, a trip to Pick A Bagel was required on Sunday morning when I woke up.

IMG_2586 (640x478) IMG_2587 (640x478)  IMG_2589 (640x478)  IMG_2591 (640x478) Words can’t describe how much I enjoyed this whole wheat everything bagel complete with egg whites and low fat cheese.

That, combined with a dose of The O.C. Season 3 made for a wonderful end of the weekend.

Question: What is your favorite bachelorette memory from either your event or someone else’s?
