As promised guys, I want to share our packing list for our 10 day trip to Banff and Jasper which we took in August. We did quite a bit of research ahead of the trip to ensure that we would have clothing for their typical August weather – cool mornings and evenings but warm days. In hindsight, I did not over pack and was prepared for all of our day trips and activities. The one area I didn’t pack properly for the evenings as it was in the 40s most nights. I packed Summer evening attire, such as dresses as well as flowy tank tops with jeans when in reality I should have packed jeans, silk blouses and a light wrap or sweater.
Otherwise, here is the packing list we used and would recommend to others who decide to make this trip.

Your turn: Any other questions regarding gear before I focus the rest of the recaps on the activities and lodging?
Looks like a great and thorough list! I would definitely recommend erring on the side of caution for cooler weather. A friend and I were in Banff and Jasper the last weekend of August last year and we encountered a lot of snow (at a relatively low elevation) which we were not quite prepared for! Haha. It was also very cool in the mornings in town, but we heard that weather was quite unseasonal. I also found having a pair of gloves and my Vinyasa scarf from Lululemon (so cozy) really nice to have!
That is crazy as we had temps in the 80s! Great tip though Danielle!
haha I’ve never heard of bear spray!!! The trip looked awesome, it reminded me of Switzerland a bit (picture perfect).
Thanks Emily – it reminded us of Switzerland as well!
I’ll be in Banff and jasper next week! Only a few days though. Most of the trip will be in Seattle and Vancouver. But I have most of these items. I plan on gloves and a wool hat as the forecast calls for freezing temps in the mornings. Where did you get your bear spray? And what exactly does it do to keep the Bears away?
If you click the link that is the spray we used and we bought it at REI.
