Happy Thursday! I’m heading back to Geneva at midnight tonight which means I’m trying to cram as much as possible in to the next 4 hours before heading to the airport. While my hotel bed was wonderful and I’ve loved seeing all my friends and co-workers in New York City, I’m ready to get home.
Before getting into the fun part of today’s post I want to give you guys a heads up and a chance for input! I am working on a few New York City tourist posts including where to eat, visit, drink, and sweat if you’re in New York City. Is there anywhere you’d want me to include or any NYC tourist questions you want me to answer?
So now, on to the fun part!
While living in the states I ran more than 50 races along the East Coast! Since moving, I’ve really enjoyed starting to discover London and Geneva via races such as the Hampton Court Half Marathon.
Therefore when Spartan Race reached out to me about giving away a bib to a lucky reader I was ecstatic!
On a mission to get people active and excited, the Spartan Race series sends participants to the woods and trails in order to conquer obstacles. The race series is launching races in new cities this year including Charlotte, Atlanta and Miami while also hosting races in more than 20 other US cities.
I’ve always thought that the most fun way to conquer a Spartan Race would be with a group of friends especially as we could motivate each other over the obstacles such as the wall climb or rope climb. Vanessa Runs has a great review of her Spartan Race experience along with a description of each obstacle! There are even Spartan workouts and training groups in certain cities where you can train with others or test your hand at some of the obstacles in advance!
If you want to sign up you can use the following link to access a discount code for 15% off any Spartan Race OR you can enter the giveaway and cross all your fingers and toes.

I’ve always wanted to do an obstacle race!
I have a friend who has done the Spartan race for the past two years and it has sounded AWESOME! Price and training for other races kept me away but I could never say no to a free entry!
I’ve always thought Spartan Races were the toughest obstacle course races around. I’d like to run the Ultra Beast coming up in Vermont. I love the challenge it brings!
I’d like to know about healthy places to eat in NY, everyone is telling me about the Magnolia Bakery (and other cake shops) but I’d like something other than cake to eat!
Also I’m planning to do a lot of shopping- so any stores you like! Particularly activewear, apart from lululemon are there any other stores?
Anything you think is a must-do in NY! Want to make the most of my time there as I’m going for my 30th so want it to be a special trip!
Thanks a lot x x
I’ve been doing more and more races since taking up running a couple years ago, but I have yet to do an obstacle course….I’m ready for a new challenge!
The spartan race sounds awesome – I’d love to try it!
I’d like to try a Spartan race. I am doing my first CMC in May. I am curious how they compare. Hope you had a nice flight back t Geneva.
I want to run the Spartan Race because I formed a team last year and got sick the day before the race, so I don’t plan to miss it this time around!
I’d LOVE to do a Spartan Race! I did a Mud Run a few years ago and it was really fun. I’m in much better shape now than I was then, so I want to challenge myself a little more!
I have always wanted to do one of these obstacle course races and I think Spartan races are the most bad ass! It’d be the perfect challenge to tackle after my first half IM this year!
Of course I’d LOVE to win! What a new and fun challenge!
No need to enter me in the giveaway, but thanks for the shout-out! Looking forward to the NYC posts 😀
I love doing spartan races! I even did my trifeca last year. The cost might keep me from doing one this year so I would love to win a free entry.
I would love to have your suggestions for cheap but really good places to eat, have a drink, or workout while in NYC. And a this place is a tourist trap don’t go there list would be useful as well.
I went to Spartan sprint in Tampa. I really want to go the next one.I been training for this since September 2013 :))
I’ve done warrior dash a few times and a dirty girl obstacle race – I’d love to try a spartan sprint!
I want to run the Spartan Race because I’ve never participated in an event like this, and it sounds like a great challenge (and a lot of fun)!
I know someone who is always up for a challenge so winning the Spartan race would be fun.
I’ve always wanted to do an obstacle race, and I love that offer different levels of difficulty and distance to their races so you can really challenge yourself!
Congratulations Sheena – you’re the winner!
I want to run a spartan race because they look so much tougher then other races out there and i’d love to be able to say i finished something this difficult
I’ve never done an obstacle race and hopefully, this will be the year I do at least one. They look like a ton of fun!
I want to run the Spartan because I did it last year and hope to again!
Last year I was able to participate in a few races, one being the Tough Mudder which gave me the obstacle racing bug! Would love to win! Thank you!
