This morning Emily, Bo and I met Renaud at 6:45 for a Saturday adventure in Chamonix. Renaud offered to take us hiking through some of his favorite paths on the way to Lac Blanc. He promised amazing views, wonderful weather, a gorgeous frigid lake, and some steep climbs. As you can tell from the pictures, the five hour hike lived up to they hype. My legs are more than a bit sore after yesterday’s 14 mile run and this morning’s hike but it was well worth it! We started our hike at an elevation of 1,800 meters and by the end of our hike we ascended 780 net meters and a distance of 5.9 miles.
I still can’t believe that all of this is just 45 minutes from Geneva!
Absolutely stunning!! What a great life experience to get to live somewhere where you can experience such amazing things 🙂
Beautiful views!!
This looks like an amazing experience!
How absolutely gorgeous — lucky you! Chamonix is going on my list of places to visit!
Chamonix is one of my favorite places in Europe. I knew I recognized those mountains! I remember doing a hike that was ridiculously hard involving crazy ladders and things with my dad, and then having a full sugar coke at the same cafe you were at – that was the last time I had a coke but it was so worth it! Plus there are great places for raclette and fondue in town. Very jealous of you being there.
OMG SO PRETTY!!!!
Long time reader first time commenter :). What is the dessert you pictured? Just curious :).
And happy to hear you’ll be visiting Burgundy and Dijon soon! I used to live there- one of the most beautiful areas in France. You will love it!
Out of this world! Zach (my fiance) and I were actually seriously considering Chamonix for our honeymoon in February. We ended up going with Austria, but these pictures are making me kind of second guess our choice! Could you possibly go check out Austria for us, just for comparison? 😉
NBD 🙂 Gorgeous pics, were you using your SLR or a smaller camera?
That’s the good thing about Switzerland: there is typically a real nice restaurant on the top of the mountain after a long hike 🙂
Holy cow! Looks fantastic, peaceful and SO untouched!
Wow, simply breath taking. That looks like an amazing adventure! Makes my standup paddleboarding trip look like nothing! lol.
No Taylor – paddleboarding is something for sure! Just very different opportunities and exercises! 🙂
Incredible views!!!!! I would love love to hike there one day!!!
Oh my gosh, those views are breathtaking! Lucky girl!
Golly I have Alp Envy!! What wonderful photos! What camera did you use? I’m sure people have asked this before but I’m relatively new here.
Breathtaking! I definitely am envious of that environment 🙂 I seriously need to move to Europe ASAP!
You don’t have to move but I recommend visiting in the Summer for sure! 🙂
Such a wonderful place whine the sun is shining!
