This morning I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and sun shining in my window! I kid you not. This is quite a change coming from New York City where our apartment only had two very small windows and I don’t think I saw a single bird from the windows our 3 years in the apartment.
Our flat is not nearly complete but it is definitely starting to feel like home. It’s amazing what fresh flowers, even if they are in a measuring cup instead of a vase, can do for the heart!
This morning I learned first hand just how small Geneva can feel sometimes as I ended up at the bus stop with two co-workers! The commute to work took about 25 minutes which wasn’t bad at all and includes a nice quarter mile walk. I’m sure there are times when I wish that walk wasn’t included especially when it is raining or snowing but for now it is very refreshing!
Before leaving for the bus this morning I asked Bo to take a picture. This makes me smile so much as it reminds me of those first day of school pictures my mom used to take of me and my brother, Ryan, each year!
Depending on what time I get home this evening I will do my best to give you all a proper update with more pictures and details surrounding our weekend!
Fresh flowers? If you could have fresh flowers in your home everyday what flower would you choose? I love peonies and zinnias!
I totally agree! Fresh flowers (and making my bed) can do wonders for my home and my heart! Have a wonderful first day!
OMG Ashley – making my bed is another one! I always do that!! Thanks for the well wishes!
I am so amazed with how quickly you are jumping in to life! I would have been so lazy and slow at getting started.
I wouldn’t say jumping into life but I’m trying to get started on the right foot! 🙂
Calalillies are my favorite!
Calalillies were my wedding flowers!!
First day of work pictures are a must – hydrangeas and peonies are lovely this time of year. Hope you had a great day at work! xo
I love peonies too! Thanks for the well wishes. 🙂
Definitely peonies! Congrats on the move and first day of work.
I have referred to your blog a couple of times as I am heading to NYC on Thursday. Thanks for the restaurant suggestions.
You looked fabulous, too!
You’re too kind Katie!!
What an incredible adventure! Congratulations on getting settled. If you have a chance at a Swiss restaurant or grocery store, try their local drink, called Rivella. It’s a milk serum drink (sounds disgusting, but it’s not, it tastes almost like Ginger Ale), with multiple variations–I believe red is regular, blue is low-calorie, and green is soy.
I have definitely never heard of that Kinsey! I’ll have to ask one of my co-workers tomorrow about it.
Lilies or orchids…unfortunately, my cat sees all plants as a threat and so I have one hanging spider plant. 🙂
Haha yeah I can imagine your cat has a great time with the plants. Spider plant? Yikes!
Congrats on your first day of work!! My mom used to take those pictures of me too – so cute. It looks like you’ll have an amazing journey in front of you. I must say – I’m pretty jealous!! 🙂 Congrats again!
Thanks Kelly! I hope the journey continues to go well!
Aw glad to see everything is going well!!! I love Hydrangeas they’re so full and lovely! Loved your outfit, can’t wait to see you back on Instagram!
Hopefully I’ll be back on Instagram by Monday! I can’t wait to have a phone either 🙂
I’ve done the first day of work picture! It’s a good memory to have.
I agree Nicole! I love that picture and will cherish it forever!
