The leaves are changing in New York City and even though today’s weather was balmier than normal for November, Fall has arrived and winter is not far behind.
So while I’d love to continue talking about my marathon experience, I tend to believe most people are growing quite tired of it. So instead, I’m going to focus on what’s ahead for my late Fall and winter running plan.
Upcoming Race Plan
- The Savannah Turkey Trot 5k on November 24th *
- NYRR Jingle Bell Jog 4 miler on December 10th *
- Manhattan Half Marathon in January
- NYRR Gridiron 4 miler in February
- RNR National Half Marathon on March 17th *
*I’ve already signed up for these races.
I am excited to spend the next few months focused on strength and speed. I think I have a great chance of setting a new PR on November 24th and hope that this will be the start of many more this season. I want to ensure that I have at least race per month on my calendar to keep me motivated. I actually enjoy winter running a great deal, especially in Central Park, so this definitely helps. In order to help achieve my goal of setting a 4 miler and half marathon PR this winter, I want to join a run club at least once per week. As of now, the SoHo Lululemon group seems like the most attractive option since I really like the coaches at Hot Bird Running who lead the free runs each Wednesday night. In addition, my personal trainer is excited to focus on our two challenges: an unassisted pull-up and a yoga headstand.
In an effort to move life forward, I finally indulged and enjoyed a celebratory post night out with some of my favorite Junior League ladies at Bubble Lounge and Tribecca Tavern.
We started the evening at Bubble Lounge for an Urban Girl Squad event featuring cupcakes and champagne cocktails. Unfortunately the event was more crowded than we expected so after a drink and a taste of cupcake we headed next door in search of a more relaxed environment where we could enjoy some beers and quality girl talk.
Tribecca Tavern was a perfect spot which I’d visit again in a heartbeat! Anywhere featuring NINE pumpkin beers and a menu filled with delicious burgers and hot dogs is a winner in my opinion!
Last night’s burger and beer celebration was the perfect way to end my marathon glow and move my focus onto the speed work that will come with Fall and Winter training.
Tomorrow I’ll share some of my favorite winter running necessities.
Question: What is your favorite winter running article of clothing or gear? I’ll feature these in tomorrow’s post!
