As most of you all know, tomorrow night is the biggest night of the year for Hollywood. The night is filled with gorgeous dresses, witty jokes, and lots of good looking guys in tuxedos.
I’m excited for the night and have even convinced Bo to watch it with me. I am so excited for this year’s hosts, James Franco and Anne Hathaway. While their humor will probably be far different than Steve Martin, Billy Crystal, and Alex Baldwin I expect it will be very entertaining!
If you want to watch but depend on your computer for television shows, I found out online that you can live stream the show on the Associated Press AP Live Site.
Normally, we do our best to see as many of the Oscar films as possible before the big night but this year we’ve only seen a few: Black Swan, The Kids are Alright, Inception (Bo only), Toy Story 3, and The Social Network (me only).
While we aren’t hosting a party this year, I received some great tips from the folks at Yoplait for a perfect Oscar Evening.
How to Get Your Home In Oscar Shape
- Set up a photo area in your home – it could simply be a corner of your living room – where each guest can take their own ‘red carpet’ photo.
- ·Pick a signature cocktail for the evening for something extra special.
- ·Play a game with your guests and vote on who you think will win each award.
How to Make Yourself Red Carpet Ready
How to Get Ready for a Big Event – Fashion Tips from Jeannie Mai
Celebrity stylist, host of the Style Network’s “How Do I Look?” and Yoplait Light Two Week Tune Up spokesperson Jeannie Mai tells us how to get red-carpet ready:
- The Dress: When picking a dress for your Oscar party, pick styles that show off your best assets. If you have great arms, show them off with a sleeveless look or try something like a wrap-dress to accentuate your curves. An added bonus of a cocktail dress is that it can be transformed from casual to formal with a little help from accessories – so you could wear your dress to work, add accessories and hit a party.
- Adding Glamour: You don’t have to spend a fortune to add a little flare to your outfit. Try adding a broach, a statement necklace or fabulous earrings and colorful scarf to add some glamour to your dress.
- Feeling Confident: Looking your best is also about feeling your best. With only a few days left before the Oscars, try a quick tune-up to give you that extra boost of confidence.
- Shoes: Shoes are also an important part of your overall look. A pair of high heel shoes can give you added height making you look not only taller, but slimmer. Your shoes can instantly transform from casual to formal as well. Wear a classic pair of black or solid color pumps for day. Then to jazz them up for night – take a pair of pretty clip-on earrings and clip them onto the front of your shoes. It’s a great way to add some glitz to polish off your look.

i have to pick one and only one movie?
i absolutely LOVED toy story 3…I didn’t have high expectations, but well to be honest sometimes thirds of movies aren’t they great. i couldn’t believe i actually cried.
there are plenty other great movies out there. I’m afraid I haven’t really watched many, but will be watching the awards tomorrow night!
got you on reader and blogroll!
Ohhh. My fave movie this year was The Social Network. So good!
I also just liked you on FB! 🙂
blogrolled baby
fb’d as well
I, sadly, have only seen Toy Story 3 as I seem to fall asleep while viewing any movie after 8pm. So I guess that has my vote :).
fave nomination has to be either kings speech or the fighter. both were so artistic and well made. i left both movies speechless (no ignorant pun intended).
Toy Story! Pixar deserves an award – they do such amazing work.
I loved so many of the movies this year! I’d have to say The King’s Speech is #1, then The Social Network, followed closely behind by Toy Story 3.
And I appreciate the glam tips—always need more direction in that arena 🙂
I loved The King’s Speech. Amazing acting and fabulous film.
A few things…
1. I didn’t even know the academy awards were tomorrow (I must be out of the loop!)
2. I like you on FB
3. I’d have to vote for the fighter
Have a good night 🙂
just liked your page on FB!
I loved “The King’s Speech!”
Great giveaway girl!! I liked you on faceboook 🙂
I loved the facebook movie!! So interesting to see how it got started!
My fave nominee movie was Toy Story 3. I loved the previous two and particularly love Jessie! IO loved this movie because it had the happy ending and I saw it with my sweetie and he (of uber tough guy macho manhood) was crying at the scene where they all link hands. It was great to know I could get tearyeyed and he was right there doing the same!!
Social Network… relevant, amazing soundtrack, leaves you thinking.
My blog doesn’t have a blogroll, but you’re on my google reader if that counts for anything 🙂
I don’t have a favorite movie up for an award because I haven’t found a babysitter in my area yet and other moviegoers seem to frown upon me bringing a fussy baby to the movies 😛
Kara, If you don’t have a blogroll, you can get a 3rd entry by RT the giveaway on Twitter and Facebook. Comment here if you do that today! 🙂 Thanks again!
I love Toy Story 3!
my favorite movie was A King’s Speech. I think it was so well acted!
I liked you on facebook
I’m pulling for The King’s Speech. I thought it was a great movie! I also enjoyed The Fighter but I don’t think it is best picture material.
Congrats! You’re the winner Annemarie!
I don’t know if I can state my favs, seeing how I only saw a few… but I really thought The Fighter was good!
you are already on my blogroll!
also, my favorite oscar-nominated movie this year for acting was the king’s speech. for script, it was social network.
I liked you on FB! I too loved Toy Story. It made me cry at the end. I was thinking ahead to when my boys would leave home for school. It will happen in less than 10 years and it seems like they were just born the other day!!
1) You’re definitely on my blog list: http://marthalilian.blogspot.com/
2) Just liked you on Facebook!
3) For best picture I’m going to have to say “Inception” because sadly, it is the only one I’ve seen! We don’t go to the movies all that often.
I added you to my blogroll, i like you on facebook and my favorite movie was social network – i hope it wins – i really think it defines our generation with social media and it was very unexpected how they made the whole movie. I was pleasantly surprised!
Great Giveaway Girl!
I “liked” you on FB.
I think I only saw 4 of the movies nominated so it’s hard for me to say the best. From what I’ve seen, I’ll go with the Social Network but it sounds like The King’s Speech is amazing.
Great giveaway!
You are on my blogroll! 😀

I loved Toy Story 3 and The Social Network. Toy Story 3 was so bittersweet because I felt like Toy Story was a big part of my childhood and the third movie was PERFECT!
The Social Network was so smart and very well done! 🙂
I have only seen Black Swan, it was well done and Natalie Portman was amazing!
I liked you on facebook!

i’ve only seen social network! oops…will obviously still be watching the oscars tonight though!
I haven’t seen all of the nominated movies yet, but I really enjoyed “The Social Network”. Facebook was developed when I was in college, and I remember its days of exclusivity. I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at how facebook was created.
My fav movie was the King’s Speech – such an inspiration to see someone overcome such an obstacle!
I thought Social Network was really good. Love the Oscars!

Well…. I have to say, Toy Story 3 as I have been living in a parent hole, and have not seen any of the others yet! 😉
Tough choice! I would have to go with Black Swan, although The Social Network and Inception were great as well.

My favorite nominated film in Toy Story 3.
I liked you on Facebook and you are on my Blogroll. 🙂 My favorite movie would have to be Toy Story 3. I liked the Social Network, but I thought it was really sad (either because of it’s so true or it’s not, we still don’t know how it all happened!).
What an amazing giveaway!!! I have to go with Tot Story 3! That movie just made me smile the entire time!! 🙂
I added you to my blog roll!! obviously!
My favorite academy awards nominated movie is The King’s Speech. I am studying to be a speech pathologist and this movie was right up my alley. Loved it!
My favorite nominated movie is The Social Network. The phenomenon of Facebook has always fascinated me and to see it played out on the big screen was truly amazing!
I love The King’s Speech – Colin Firth was unbelievably good, I hope he wins for best actor!
I havent seen all of the nominations yet but I have Black Swan, The Social Network, and The Fighter in my possession to view 🙂

I liked you on fb… Will be adding you to my blogroll asap 😉
You have a shiny new spot on my blogroll, although you’ve been on my favorites list on my computer for a long time! 😉 I guess that means I need to update my blog roll!
I havent seen that many of the nominated films so I’m not rooting for any particular film. However, I have always thought Natalie Portman was a great actress so it’d be pretty great to see her get some recognition for Black Swan.
Muffins look delicious – and I just loved toy story 3. Kid at heart. =)
My favorite nominated movie is The King’s Speech. I am in graduate school currently, and am getting my Masters in Speech Language Pathology. People who stutter are a wonderful, and wonderfully misunderstood population.
I have liked this blog on facebook!
I have added you to my blog roll!
I was taken aback by black swan….such an interesting and out of this world movie…the acting, the setting, the way it was shot, all wonderful!
You’re on my blog roll 🙂
My favorite movie of the year was Toy Story 3. The whole story is great. It entertains children and keeps them interested while still keeping adults interested in the storyline. Love it! (my entry) 🙂
I just added you to my blog roll! Can’t believe you weren’t already on there!
Hahaha – oh wait you WERE. Now you’re there twice.
Also my fave oscar movie – this year I ONLY saw Toy Story 3 and the Social Network! Woefully behind! 🙂
The Social Network was so smart and very well done! I like you on f’book! I loved Toy Story 3 and The Social Network. IO loved this movie because it had the happy ending and I saw it with my sweetie and he (of uber tough guy macho manhood) was crying at the scene where they all link hands.
